Founder-in-residence

This role is for experienced individuals who will be the future co-founding CEO or CXO of the company we will build together

Future founder

This role is for younger individuals who will support founders initially and in time when they accumulate necessary experience will found their own company with us

Founder in residence

Will I be a Compound employee?

Until the new company is established together, you will be an employee of Compound. When the new company is established, you will move to it and become its co-founder and CEO/CXO.

How will I get compensated when I partner with Compound?

We offer founders salary and benefit perks in addition to fair equity of jointly created company.

Do I need a startup idea to apply?

No. We have a large pool of vetted ideas generated internally. If you prefer, you can tell us about your idea, but it should go through our vetting process first to be eligible to start validation.

Do you generally partner with 1 co-founder per company?

We typically prefer to partner with 1 co-founder during a venture journey. We believe this is a more rewarding approach for all parties regarding equity split perspective. However for exceptional idea x co-founder fit situations, we are open to match 2 or more co-founders to an idea. We decide this together with you.

Can we apply as a team, with an idea still at pre-MVP or pre-revenue stage?

Maybe an incubator will be a better address if you want to pursue the idea you have been working on. However we will be happy to meet and discuss how we can collaborate together fitting to our way of venture building.

How does the selection process for founder-in-residence work?

There will be several rounds of conversations. During these conversations we will test mutual fit as co-founders and conduct working sessions together. If we believe we can co-found a new company with you, we will make you an offer.

Future founder

Why is there a future founder track?

We believe entrepreneurship has a craft of its own, which can be learned by participating in venture building efforts and spending quality time with top people. We expect you to be 100% ready when you will become a founder. Otherwise we both will be taking unnecessary risks.

As a future founder, who will be my employer until I become a founder?

You can be employed by several portfolio companies or by the studio during your time as a future founder. Depending on progress of your employer companies and your preference, we intend to move you between other portfolio companies to increase your exposure areas and to make you more experienced in our way of venture building and scaling.

What role will I take as a future founder?

Although it will change by specifics of portfolio company, typical roles will be related to product, growth, sales or technology. We will define the most suitable role with you in each opportunity to make you as close to 360 degrees as possible founder in the future.

How long will it take for a future founder to become a founder?

This totally depends on starting point and progress of the individual. We expect our future founders to have sufficient experience in company building environments before becoming a founder. Typically this can take several years.

How does the selection process for future founders work?
